Project Engineer Intern, Jeremy Labiche, joins the Sustainable Design Solutions Baton Rouge office to support ongoing drainage, coastal, water, and sewer projects.
Labiche is a native of Metairie, Louisiana, and is a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Labiche comes to Sustainable Design Solutions with three and a half years of civil engineering experience. Labiche has previously worked as an ABD Quality Engineer. He previously worked on the Venture Global Calcasieu Pass LNG project and provided estimation for LA DOTD projects.
Labiche also has over six years of experience in financial administration and project management, working for his family’s commercial plumbing company throughout high school and college. This early introduction to the construction industry provided invaluable experience in the office and field and planted his desire to become an Engineer.
When asked about his strengths, Labiche explains that he always takes steps to ensure open lines of communication on every project because it’s what drives a client’s end product.
“Attention to detail and quality forces you to make sure that what you’re writing in a report or design document is truly what you mean, so it’s not open to interpretation,” explained Labiche.
Labiche is excited about the culture and says Sustainable Design Solutions founder, Kodi Guillory, has been extremely helpful throughout his onboarding. Ensuring employees have what they need to be successful – from her transparency, providing required software, and ensuring he understands the scope of all projects and where the team is in the process. “It might seem like small things, but it goes a long way,” says Labiche.
He also likes how the company touches on everything and caters to the client.
“Sustainable does whatever it takes to get the job done. That drive is what I’ve wanted in an employer – I’m excited to be working here and see myself staying here for the long run, ” explained Labiche.
The sense of community and everyone working towards the same goal has already been apparent through his first week. Labiche says he’s most excited about the growth he expects to experience by working with his new team.
Having more time with his family was Labiche’s primary motivation to make this career move. A new homeowner, and soon-to-be new dad, he enjoys spending time with his wife and golfing when he’s not working.
