The Louisiana State University (LSU) Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering bestowed the 2021 Rising Star Award to Kodi Guillory, P.E., founder and president of Sustainable Design Solutions, on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
This annual award recognizes successful alumni under 40 who have impacted the engineering industry. The department postponed the 2021 ceremony until April 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the 2021 honoree, Kodi spoke to undergraduate scholarship recipients about not taking for granted the skills and tools they are gaining right now in their undergraduate degrees.
She explained her experience shows that it is ok if they are undecided about what they want to do post-graduation. The skills gained in their undergraduate years is shaping each of them to be problem solvers and sound Engineers.
Kodi discussed her career journey and what led her to leap to open Sustainable Design Solutions in 2019.
“So many of the skills and tools I learned as an undergraduate have shaped my career and made me a well-rounded Engineer,” said Kodi.
The LSU Engineering Rising Star Award is not Kodi’s first recognization since founding Sustainable Design Solutions. In 2020, Baton Rouge Business Report spotlighted her success and honored her in their Forty Under 40 program.
Her company’s success is exciting to watch as it continues to grow steadily. Sustainable has expanded from one employee to a firm with 10 employees and three offices in three years.
Congratulations, Kodi! Your team and alma mater are proud of you!
